He grew up in the old city of Delhi, where he acquired rich knowledge of South Asian herbs and their traditional applications from renowned herbalists of the era. Alongside his study of the Unani medicinal system and its philosophy, he mastered herbal formulation at Hamdard India, gaining foundational pharmaceutical expertise. Immersed in a family that deeply valued classical calligraphy, he was also encouraged to master this fine art alongside his medical studies.

After graduating from Tibbia College Lahore, Hakeem Mursaleen served as the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer at Hamdard Karachi. In 1950, he established his independent clinical practice and founded a dedicated herbal pharmaceutical unit. Driven by a lifelong curiosity for botanical pharmacopeia, he continually deepened his practice through rigorous study, formulation refinement, and clinical observation. His devotion to traditional healing was guided by a profound respect for nature and a lifelong commitment to serving those in need.

A pioneer in holistic wellness, Hakeem Mursaleen played a key role in refining herbal formulations and integrative health practices. His approach harmoniously blends classical Unani principles with holistic lifestyle strategies, treating the whole person across biological, emotional, and social dimensions. Throughout his career, he advocated for accessible, affordable wellness, encouraging patients to integrate natural nutrition, healthy habits, and mindful living into their care.

Today, Hakeem Mursaleen’s clinical legacy and traditional formulations continue under the management of his son, Dr. Muqeem Khan, a registered Hakeem/Tabib certified by the Government of Pakistan. The practice operates across two locations in Karachi: Federal B Area and Badar Commercial, DHA.
